The Actress Says Mentioning Trump Would ‘Worsen the Situation’ That’s Ripping the Country Apart

Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she believes it's no longer appropriate to speak out against the Trump presidency, worried it could exacerbate unhelpful debate and increase separation throughout the country.

‘I’m Unsure If It’s Wise’, Says the Actress

Speaking with media, the Oscar winner commented, “Back in Trump’s initial term, I felt like I was acting frantically without clear direction. But as we’ve learned, through repeated campaigns, public figures do not make a difference in any way on voter decisions.”

She continued, “Why continue? I’m just sharing my opinion on a matter that’s going to worsen tensions that’s ripping the country apart.”

Shifting Views

The actress has admitted freely about voting for both Republican and Democratic candidates throughout her life. Brought up by a right-leaning family in Kentucky, she supported the Republican nominee in 2008 prior to switching to the Democratic party and revealing she understood during President Obama’s term that voting Republican was voting against her individual liberties as a woman.

Past Statements

Several years ago, she commented that Donald Trump’s election would be “the end of the world” and endorsed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 election. More recently, she lent her support to the Democratic nominee, “since I believe she’s an excellent choice and I know that she will take all necessary steps to defend abortion access.”

Celebrity Views

The star was joined by many in the entertainment industry in her opposition to Donald Trump as a candidate for re-election, but the minimal impact stars have over the voting intentions was highlighted by Trump’s victory.

“Another four years seems distinct,” commented Lawrence about Trump’s presidency. “As he made his plans clear. We knew what he did for four years. He was explicit. And that’s what we chose.”

New Release

The actor is discussing Die, My Love, the filmmaker’s project in which she stars as a new mother who struggles with her mental health in a remote area. Speaking at a media event for the film in the film festival, she addressed the situation in the Middle East: “I feel fear. It’s devastating. What’s taking place is equivalent to a humanitarian crisis and it’s terrible.”

Additional Thoughts

Lawrence added by expressing that she was disheartened by “the disrespect in the conversations of U.S. political debates right now and how that is going to be normalised to the kids now. It’s going to be standard to them that leaders are untruthful.”

Lawrence attempted to refocus anger about the situation to policymakers rather than entertainers. “Concentrate on who is responsible,” she remarked, in what many took to be a nod to the recent commitment endorsed by thousands of entertainment industry figures to refuse engagement with Israeli film institutions.

Personal Connections

Jennifer Lawrence, who won an Oscar at a young age for her performance in the acclaimed film, is receiving praise for her work in her latest project. Although Lynne Ramsay has denied the plot being seen as one of post-birth struggles and psychological distress, the actress revealed that she did relate to elements of her role’s experience after the birth of her new baby, not long after shooting ended.

“It was fear for my son,” she explained, “envisioning every potential danger, and then questioning everything that I was doing. I was seeing a therapist, but I began using a treatment called Zurzuvae and I continued it for two weeks and it made a difference.”

Film Challenges

The actor also discussed of the liberating necessity of shooting revealing sequences in the project while she was in pregnancy and unable to exercise.

“It’s refreshing,” she commented, of being forced to set aside self-consciousness. “Honestly, I do have moments where I’m like, How exactly do I differ between my work and that profession? But it doesn’t trouble me deeply.”
