Larry Summers Resigns from AI Company's Directors
Former US treasury secretary Lawrence Summers is departing from the board at OpenAI, just several days after a series of digital correspondence between him and deceased financier the accused trafficker became publicly available.
He remarked in a release that he was "appreciative for the privilege to have participated, enthusiastic about the prospects of the organization, and look forward observing their development".
The prominent academic, who formerly led the Ivy League institution, stated on recently that he would be stepping back from public commitments due to his association with the convicted sex offender.

The freshly disclosed messages revealed that Summers exchanged messages with the financier until the 24 hours preceding his 2019 detention for suspected trafficking of underage individuals.
In a separate statement, the AI firm said it understood Summers' determination to resign.
"We acknowledge his many contributions and the viewpoint he offered to the governing body," the company stated.

This news arrives after the entire Congress of the legislative branch decided on this week to endorse a measure that would compel the Department of Justice to release its records on Jeffrey Epstein.
The measure will subsequently move to the desk of US President Donald Trump for signature. Trump has stated he expects to endorse the legislation, after reversing his stance on the matter following pressure from his base.
