Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the couple.

A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director

Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt ready to share openly about his deep grief.

"Sufficient time has gone by that I can now express my sorrow into words," shared Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "When we commenced spending more time together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."

The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the film, adding that he cannot recall "a single day without mirth".

"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes expressed.

He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."

Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade

In a different piece, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.

"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.

Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.

"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.

Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted

This week, a Los Angeles judge agreed to block the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.

A legal directive put a embargo on the investigation to limit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" associated with the ongoing investigation.

The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a official listing citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".

Fallout and Commentary

Following the deaths, public individuals shared varying responses.

Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering divisive statements that were met with immediate backlash by several individuals.

Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the detractors last week. Speaking on his podcast, Rogan described the statements as "shocking" and suggested they demonstrated a troubling deficiency of sympathy.

Rogan concluded by remarking that an adviser could have stepped in when the choice to speak on the passing was made.
