Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete
The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.
The organization did not mention the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Shared on Social Media
The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.
Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File
No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles
The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
